Voce is the auditioned chamber choir at Xavier High School located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The ensemble is comprised of 47 singers and performs extensively around the community and state, representing the school and the Vocal Music Department at various events. Members balance their musical pursuits with a rigorous academic curriculum, athletics, campus ministry, and many other activities. This year’s program includes works by Hans Leo Hassler, Tomas Luis de Victoria, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Morten Lauridsen, Richard Burchard, Jake Runestad, and more.
Matt Walker, the choir director, is in his sixth year at Xavier HS and fourth year as the Director of Choral Activities. Mr. Walker is an active voice teacher and performer, and has sung with such nationally recognized conductors as Weston Noble, Dr. Timothy Peter, Dr. Robert Larson, Dr. Lee Nelson, and Dr. Tim Stalter.
