Divine Mercy Sunday

April 23, 2017

Dear People of God,

Thank you to everyone for your attendance and help this Easter.   Were not the flowers on the altar so attractive?  Thank you to Phil & Pat Winter for buying and arranging them for us.  Thank you to all who contributed funds for the flowers.  Donna and Greg Owen we thank for the music, which involved not only performance with our choir and cantors, but locating and paying musicians out of their own music contract funds.  Lectors were fantastic and thank you as well to  the Altar Servers.  Julie  Schulte and others, Donna Mueller our Office Coordinator, Ursula and Wayne Hand, and I thank also Amir our maintenance man for some intense floor care and cleaning for us.  Our attendance numbers were up this year over last year, which is a very good sign.  I reminded everyone that our basic salvation contract (covenant) with Jesus involves the Ten Commandments, and number three ~ attending Mass ~ is higher on the list than number five, which is to avoid murder!  If we can encourage the people around us to live the Gospel for love and gratitude to Jesus, especially by attending Mass, we can have much better neighborhoods, world, marriages and families!

Our Young Adults who do not have extended families in our area, did enjoy a potluck Easter dinner after the 10:30 Mass, as I mentioned during Mass. Thank you to Jess and Dana Siegrist for organizing this.  I arrived late, after a wonderful family Baptism for Leah Lowry, daughter of Brendan and Melody, when some Y/A’s  had already left.  They left food for me for which I thank them. Thank you to Deacon Dave for dropping by to socialize with us too.  Speaking of Deacon Dave, thank you goes to him for the Easter candle stand, finished and stained just in time to put beside the pulpit for the Easter Vigil Mass.

Looking forward, please come to Thursday Adoration when possible to pray for peace in the world.  Chris Baer will continue teaching his Thursday current topics class IF his wife and expected new baby are doing well by May.  For himself I ask your prayers, as he suffers kidney failure and will be on a transplant list, serious stuff.  I met his wife and children by coincidence Holy Saturday morning at Catholic Supply where he works.  He has a beautiful family.  Please Risen Savior Jesus, heal him of his infirmities!

May Jesus Heal All Of Us, Our Families With Easter Joy,

Father John-Paul
